Leadership has changed. It's no longer a "top down - do as I say" approach.
If it isn't this, what is it?
Leadership IS influence.
Whether you are a supervisor, a policy advisor, or a salesperson, develop the art of influence.
Think about a social media influencer. These individuals have built a following of people who look to them for guidance, information, or entertainment.
How have they built this following?
They've built it through TRUST based on:
Consistency: Show up regularly by posting.
Vulnerability: Share their experiences. Success and failure.
Enthusiasm: Share about what they love.
Optimism: Share their positive energy.
Authenticity: Keep it real.
Visibility: They show their face.
Connection: Connect with their followers by liking messages or commenting.
Casting Vision: They talk about ideas that get others excited.
Inspiration: Share how they are doing what they love.
These same traits apply to organizational leaders. Here's what it look like:
Consistency: Do what you say you will do.
Vulnerability: Admit mistakes and share failures.
Enthusiasm: Show excitement for projects and people.
Optimism: Share positive energy in the office.
Authenticity: Show your personality, not a corporate mask.
Visibility: Turn on your camera during online calls and be seen in the office.
Connection: Interact with others and be interested rather than interesting.
Casting Vision: Paint a clear picture of your goal so others know how to contribute.
Inspiration: Be bold and lead with courage.
You are more influential than you think you are.
The Truth 🔥: People are looking to be led.
Start showing up differently and watch your influence rise with those around you.
Coaching Question: Which one of the above traits could use your attention right now?
