As summer winds down, dust settles on our flip flops and suntans begin to fade. Shorter days creep upon us and fall turns down the lights as nature prepares to close up shop. The shorter days signal a time to shut down and prepare for winter.
HOWEVER, after years of being a student and a mother of school aged children, built inside me is a reset button with Fall's name on it. Another school year brings the anticipation of new beginnings…new clothes, new school supplies, new schools, and new friends. It can also be a new beginning for you even if a new school year doesn't directly impact you. Instead of viewing fall as the homestretch to the end of the year, we can view it as a new starting line. We get a second chance to begin again.
Fall is a great time to reconnect to any goals set earlier in the year from which you might have strayed. It is an opportunity to get back on course to finish the year strong. It is a time for reflection to discover how you have shown up for two thirds of the year and how you want to show up for the last third of the year. It is a time to celebrate what has been working and challenge what has not. Fall into new habits and find new ways of doing and being. Reflect and reconnect to yourself. You always have time to get back on track.
Fall is an opportunity for a new beginning. Hit the reset button and finish the year strong.
